Our enyomedia train has landed at Prince Ebenezer Memorial School, Fiave, Ho, the Volta Regional Capital. We are privileged to speak with the proprietress of the school, Mrs Beauty Mifatu Ahiadorme, who took us through her life’s journey.
‘Mawu ƒɛ amenuveve’ in the Ewe Language of the people of the Voltaland means God’s grace and that is the exact phrase Madam used in her initial statement.

After 18 months in the womb, a Catholic priest exclaimed at her birth, “What a black beauty?”.
With parental fetish backgrounds from Agbozume, Penyi, and Dzodze, all in the Volta Region of Ghana, Mrs Beauty Mifatu Ahiadorme told her life story as a recipient of the abundant graces of God. “To be able to wear dresses, shoes, headgears, and use purses or handbags were not to be part of me, but for God being so good, the life in Jesus Christ has allowed me to do these and many more”, she said giving total glory to God for bringing her this far.

Madam Beauty Mifatu Ahiadorme in her office
She was born some 60 years ago into idolatry, her mother being a priestess to a fetish entity. The paternal grandmother built 7 rooms for different types of idols. The grandfather was also into idol worship. The idolatry had effect on her right from the womb.
According to Madam, during the mother’s pregnancy of her, her mother carried some gathered items for fetish worship. It was later explained that though physically the mother carried the items, spiritually it was the baby within, the unborn baby who undertook that assignment.
She was later born at the St Anthony Catholic Hospital, Dzodze.

The grandmother was excited at her birth and protected her in all ways possible with the fetish charms and powers. As a child she wore fetish cowries as beads, and was different among her friends. She was taken through fetish initiation rites at Dzodze and Klikor.
Madam told us of her being uncontrollably stubborn during her childhood days, so arrangements were made for her to go and stay with the grand uncle, a medical doctor in Wenchi, in the Bono Region of Ghana in the early 1970s.

In the vehicle, she took off the adorning cowries on her body with her teeth, and threw them away because she became shy when people made statements about how she was draped in so many of them.
At Wenchi, she followed the grand uncle’s wife, Mrs Josephine Adzo Nornoo, who died recently to The Apostolic Church. This woman at a time worked with Pastor James McKeown, the founder of The Church of Pentecost.

At a point they returned to the Volta Region. On Sunday, 4th April 1980, she was baptized at Penyi during The Church of Pentecost’s Easter Convention.
After a family meeting, she was sent away from home, the granduncle’s place, because they were afraid of the consequences from the idols.
She stayed with Elder Gawu, the then Presiding Elder at Penyi. She had to sometimes walk on foot from Dzodze, the grandmother’s place, to school at Penyi.

She later moved to Ho after completion of Middle School.
At Ho, the then Presiding Elder of The Church of Pentecost, Elder Affor at Ho Central, that is the current Dome Central Assembly accepted her wholeheartedly and took her as a daughter.
There were other family issues, so she had by no choice of hers to worship with the Evangelical Presbyterian Church.
At a point in her life, the local name her grandmother gave her began having effects on her. Through personal prayers and intercessory prayers from Pastor Jerry Paul Adzah(rtd) of The Church of Pentecost, conditions became better.
She later returned to The Church of Pentecost and currently worships at Fiave Central Assembly.

The mother and grandmother later received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Personal Saviour.
Deaconness Beauty Mifatu Ahiadorme emphasized that without the grace of God, she would have been nothing good because when she sees her mates who still belong to that era she feels sad for them.
To the glory of God, after going through the mill and processes of life such as vocational, social welfare, and early childhood education courses, Mrs Beauty Mifatu Ahiadorme is a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a fashion designer, a deaconess of The Church of Pentecost and a proprietress of Prince Ebenezer Memorial School as she continues enjoying the love of God.
