V/R: A Life Well Lived; Deaconess Mrs Juliana Odeiwaa Amako Gbena, 1940-2023

A gathering of mourners have observed the funeral service of Deaconess Mrs Juliana Odeiwaa Amako Gbena at Kpedze Todze in the Volta Region.
Present, were people from all walks of life including the clergy and royalty.

A section of women leaders

Some of the clergy present were Apostle Dr Joseph Ignatius Boate, Pastor Prof Otu Ellis, Pastor Cephas Akakpo, Pastor David Francis Akayue, Pastor Emmanuel Dzramedo, and Pastor Eric Abeiku Quainoo. Others were Mama Eunice Johnson, Mrs Korkor Obuobi, Elder Dr Makafui Nyamadi, Elder Emmanuel Avornyo, Mrs Hannah Akayue and many others.

The clergy

Mrs Juliana Odeiwaa Amako Gbena was born on 2nd September, 1940.
Mention was made of how she emphasized and insisted to attend school at age 10 and it came to pass.
Mama Juliana Odeiwaa Gbena trained at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi in 1964 to become a midwife.
She met her beloved husband, WOII Theophilus Attah Kwaku Gbena, of many years during her training and together they had sons and daughters.
Some of the stations she served were Akuse, Ada Foah, Koforidua, Sunyani and Ho. She also served as a Women’s Ministry Leader at Ho Dome Central.

All the tributes had a lot in common; they expressed Mama Gbena’s love for the Lord, her benevolence, passion for her work, humility and respect for all among others.
Mention was made on how she withdrew almost all her savings, shopped and instructed that the items be gifted to some people on the very day she died, 17th August, 2023.

A section of the biography

Apostle Dr Joseph Ignatius Boate, in chair for the service challenged the youth and all around to learn and emulate the Christological life Grandma Juliana Gbena lived. He described her as a wonderful lady, a gift to the church and generations.
Pastor Cephas Akakpo, the Ho Area Secretary of The Church of Pentecost gave a sermon, “What do you know?” He exhorted the congregation to follow the Redeemer, that is Jesus Christ. He further explained that with Jesus Christ Who is the Light, Way, and Truth, there is an eternal and glorious abode for believers after death.
Until her demise, Mrs Juliana Odeiwaa Gbena worshipped at Pentecost International Worship Centre, Ho.
Deaconess Mrs Juliana Odeiwaa Amako Gbena is survived by children, grandchildren and a great grandchild.
