There was a gathering of GNAT Executives, School Representatives and Delegates at the Volta Regional Pensioners’ Hall numbering about 160 to attend the Asogli Local GNAT Conference 2023, with the theme, “The Role Of The Grassroot In Keeping the Strengths Of GNAT As A Teacher Union”, on Wednesday, 22nd March, 2023.
GNAT is the acronym for Ghana National Association of Teachers.



Some achievements of the Asogli Local GNAT as enumerated by the Chairman, Mr Anthony Selorm Amegadzi are:
1. Visitation by all Local Executives to almost all institutions and education of members on GNAT’s activities and benefits.
2. A Day’s Workshop on GES Promotions and Professional Development.
3. Breast, Cervical and Prostrate Cancers’ Screening for members.
4. Celebration of Asogli Games and a Fun Trip to Sajuna Beach Resort.

Some other highlights of the conference
included reading of financial accounts to members by the Executive.
A speech was given by Mr Kasim Baba, the Volta Regional GNAT Secretary who was the Guest Speaker at the Conference. He enlightened the participants about the benefits of being a member of GNAT. He advised the attendees to invest and save for the future as much as possible. He also touched on matters of interest to teachers including GNAT souvenirs, TMI Laptops, Teachers’ Mutual Fund, among others.
Mr Kasim Baba added that, “GNAT nurtures leaders and talents” so the teachers should take advantage of that and utilize opportunities to serve as they come.

There was an election for new executive for the Asogli Local GNAT which had Mr Jude Deh as the returning officer. The outcome was successful.



Swearing in the new 10- member executive for a 2-year term, Madam Lois Tipong -Asare, the District GNAT Chairperson asked them to see to the well being of GNAT members. She advised them to work more as a team than individual persons.

Mr Anthony Selorm Amegadzi, who retained his seat as Chairman, representing the new executives thanked the participants for the confidence reposed in them and asked for their continuos support.

There were well wishers from other locals including some Chairpersons and Chairmen such as Madam Delta Akpah, Tokokoe, Mr Eric Agbelorbu, Dzolokpuita, Mr Derick Boakye, Matse, Mr George Mensah Klutse, Awudome respectively and other District Executives.

The participants who were drawn from basic schools, second cycle institutions, and education offices within the Asogli Local were refreshed with some local drinks and meals.
