As part of the observation of the Menstrual Hygiene Day, the Gender and Reproductive Health Advocacy Youth Network also known as Gray Network, Ho, a Non Governmental Organization in collaboration with Listen Foundation and Yazz, a manufacturer of health and hygienic related products, have distributed sanitary pads to school children in various schools in Ho, on Thursday, 30th May, 2024.

At Ho United M/A JHS, where they were hosted by teachers and learners of both the Primary and Junior High Schools, Mr Godsway Mensah and Ms Rejoice Fiagbe led their team to have an interactive session with both the male and female learners.

They discussed topics such as puberty, menstruation, hygiene, feeding during the flow.
“Menstruation should not be stigmatized. The barrier of stigmatization should be taken away.”, Mr Mensah emphasized.

The learners were taught to eat a lot of nutritious foods to solve their adolescent hormonal differences. Such foods include proteins, vegetables, fruits and nuts.
The girls were tasked to eat iron rich foods to replace the lost blood. They were also advised to avoid candies.

There was a question and answer session.
All the females and the male teachers received Yazz pad gifts from the team. They were joyful and they expressed their gratitude.

According to the Programme Manager, Mr Mensah, over 4,000 students were given sanitary pads in the various schools.
