The Ho-Bankoe Roman Catholic Mixed Primary School has observed World Menstrual Day which falls on 28th May every year, today 9th June, 2022.
Some nursing staff from the Ho Municipal Hospital honoured the invitation of the school to educate the pupils about menstrual issues. They were Olivia Sarpong, Sylvia Hodor, Ethel Blagogee and their colleagues from the Family Health Unit.

Present at the programme were some staff of the school including Madams Seraphine Gbenu and Seyram Adjabeng who are the School Health Education Programme Coordinators.
The programme which was in two sessions had a both boys and girls segment and then an only girls segment. This was done in order for the boys to have general menstrual knowledge and the girls after receiving the general knowledge to share their challenges in confidence.

Topics treated included, “what is menstruation, who menstruates, signs and symptoms of menstruation, hygiene and nutrition during menstruation” and others.
The school children were advised not to indulge in activities that will lead to pregnancy. The girls were again advised to seek medical attention when there is a need.

The adolescent girls were giving gifts of menstrual pads.
The programme which had about 250 school children was a success. Some teachers confirmed of learning new ideas.
There was a question and answer time and refreshment for the participants.
